About Al Furjan
Al Furjan is a mature, family-friendly residential master community located in Jabal Ali First, Dubai, featuring a diverse mix of villas, townhouses, and apartment complexes developed by Nakheel and other private developers.
Master Community & Developer
Al Furjan was launched in September 2007 by master developer Nakheel. It spans over 560 hectares (5.6 million square meters) and is designed with a 'small villages' concept to offer a close-knit, neighborhood feel. The community is divided into several sub-districts including Quortaj, Al Hejaz, Dubai Style, West Village, Murooj Al Furjan, and Tilal Al Furjan. While Nakheel focuses primarily on premium villa and townhouse segments, several private developers like Azizi Developments (with over 15 completed buildings), Danube Properties, and Samana Developers have delivered or are constructing mid-rise residential towers.
Residential Portfolio & Architecture
The residential inventory of Al Furjan comprises more than 4,000 units, ranging from studios and multi-bedroom apartments to spacious 3-to-6-bedroom townhouses and villas. Property sizes range from 217 sq. ft. for studio apartments up to 8,000 sq. ft. for large detached villas. Architectural designs in the traditional phases celebrate local heritage, including Al Hejaz (Arabic), Dubai Style (local traditional), and Quortaj (Islamic/Mediterranean) styles, notable for their pitched green-tiled roofs, white panels, arched windows, and wind-tower (Barjeel) inspired finials. Newer expansions like Murooj Al Furjan and Tilal Al Furjan feature contemporary design languages with large floor-to-ceiling glass facades.
Leisure, Amenities & Education
Al Furjan is highly amenity-rich, served by two major community retail centers: Al Furjan Pavilion (which hosts supermarket chains, medical facilities, and F&B venues) and Al Furjan West Pavilion (a 90,000 sq. ft. venue opened on June 15, 2023, anchored by a Géant supermarket). The community's social hub is the Al Furjan Club, which contains a 25-meter swimming pool, kids' pool, the Furjan Fitness health club, and McCafferty's traditional Irish pub. Educational needs are met on-site by The Arbor School, a specialized British eco-school established in 2018 featuring climate-controlled biodomes, as well as the nearby Arcadia Global School.
Connectivity & Transport
A key driver of Al Furjan's popularity is its excellent transit network. The community is served directly by the Al Furjan Metro Station, which opened on January 1, 2021, on the Route 2020 extension of the Dubai Metro Red Line. This station provides rapid driverless transit to major employment hubs like Dubai Marina, JLT, Jebel Ali, and Expo City. Public bus routes F45, F43, F42, and F46 connect Al Furjan's residential clusters to nearby communities and the Ibn Battuta Mall transit hub. Road access is equally robust, with direct links to Sheikh Zayed Road (E11), Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311), Al Yalayis Road (D57), and Al Asayel Street (D72).
